Public spaces in the Alps

Public spaces can no longer be seen only as a classic inner city element. If we start from the assumption of a completely urbanised society (Lefebvre), we must reflect on its use and its acquisition in different urban configurations. The project examines public spaces in the context of the Alps. Various spatial situations will be worked on as case studies. Through the comparative observations of the filtered out types, in the end the question of the specific characteristics of public spaces and their respective potential will be discussed.

The research area covers the Alpine ranges including the surrounding metropolitan regions. In order to capture the theme in all its complexity, access to the fields of landscape architecture, architecture and sociology are required.
