Typology
Park, square, garden, promenade, courtyard, cemetery. An examination of the typologies is productive as they provide orientation in the design process. As structural models for solving problems they call for a process of site-specific updating. The typological approach not only clarifies the character of a design, it also lends a quality of inherentness. Furthermore, an examination of types makes the qualities of hybrid spaces discernible in the first place.
